Amsterdam : wine and dine

There is no shortage of places to eat in Amsterdam, who have some of the most unique and aesthetic restaurants we have eaten at (plus incredible dishes) so we thought we would share our current favourite restaurants to wine and dine across city. Our list of Amsterdam’s best restaurants spans style, vibe, and of course cuisine, so no matter how long your trip or where you are in the city, you're covered. You’ll be spoilt for choice.

Visit here for the venue and setting alone. This beautiful restaurant is located in Noord, hidden away in a cool industrial location well off the beaten track and has stunning views over the river. This is where the real scene is taking place right now - out of the centre, a place only for locals and expats (and us) in the know. Be sure to visit at sunset for the best views from their beautiful outdoor terrace that overlooks the water, complete with a giant disco ball that illuminates the room when the sun goes down. The menu isn’t super extensive but the options are delicious - we shared a Cote de Boeuf and we have no regrets with that choice.

Cornerstore brings Asian inspired food and natural wines together accompanied by sweet tunes blasting out of their Japanese inspired sound system. The interior design is minimalistic, complete with a cool lighting installation giving off purple hues around the room which really adds to the atmosphere. This is a great place to try unique spritzes and killer sake in a cool concept, with an eclectic mix of cuisine and music amidst a bohemian crowd. A special night out.

Steak lovers unite. Head to the roof of the W hotel to find Mr Porters - a super chic steakhouse with dim lighting,  stylish and cozy interiors, a cool crowd and social vibes. This one definitely one of the best steaks we have ever eaten without a doubt. Linger late into the night to watch talented mixologists and DJs make some magic.

The freshest food in Amsterdam, maybe even the world. As they say ‘’picked in the morning, served in the afternoon” - with food served literally from plant to plate. The restaurant is literally inside a pair of greenhouses dating back to the 1920s! In short, the restaurant grows its own herbs and vegetables on site, and the dynamic kitchen team creates one fixed menu daily (three or four courses for lunch; five or six at dinner) based on the season’s harvest. On sunny days, you can even sit outside on the patio in the garden. Now this is not our usually style of food (Michelin star, fancy, small portions etc) but when in Amsterdam, this is a must.

Our go to whenever there’s a Cecconi’s in town. It’s a fail safe option for style and substance - you’re basically guaranteed delicious modern day Italian classics and the decor and aesthetic are always stunning. Located in the 1930s Bungehuis building, with 30’s inspired decor complete with stunning canal views - the aesthetics of this Cecconis did not disappoint and neither did the food.

A literal tropical rainforest inspired restaurant with a fairytale twist. The botanical interiors are interspersed with hanging plants and bird murals, which creates an exotic and vibrant atmosphere meaning you can dine in between the greenery and contemporary art. Sip on a cocktail before dinner in the Green Room, enjoy a blend of Japanese and Peruvian dishes in the Garden Restaurant and end the night dancing to tunes from their resident DJ's in the Bar & Lounge.

One of our favourite places to eat in Amsterdam. They have multiple locations around the city each with a unique interior but the Oud-West and George Marina locations are by far our favourite. The menu is simple but the food is aways delicious. Try the instagrammable (and tasty) giant artichoke, just for the aesthetics alone.

Seafood Bar has multiple locations around Amsterdam and to no surprise because the food here is unreal. We must have eaten here over 20 times and have never had a bad meal. Their modern seafood menu has so many options from fresh fish and king crab to lobster and oysters. We personally love the Fruits de Mer seafood platter to share but honestly, the whole menu is faultless and we’ve tried most dishes by now.

A cosy, small and intimate setting serving British favourites all day long, including sausage rolls and the classic English breakfast, but Sunday is reserved for the main event. On Sundays, try their roast: a serving of meat and sides, such as lamb and roast potatoes - stunning. This place is super small so make sure to book in advance.

Go here to find Mediterranean vibes in the middle of Amsterdam. Their boho interiors, neutral colour scheme and bamboo and wicker finishes create a real beach house feel. The aesthetic is super Pinterest worthy so naturally the crowd here is slightly influencer heavy but the vibes are still on point. Try the small light dishes for sharing and sip cocktails and Sangria along the waterfront in summer months.

Found on one of the most beautiful corners of the east-side of Amsterdam, this place is not to miss. This intimate hotspot has a funky interior complete with a bamboo bar, animal furs and a large terrace with a beautiful view of the Tropenmuseum. The place is famed for its sangria and also the sweet potato fries here are unreal.

An independent Italian with eclectic decor, Lolo is quirky, yet homelike. The unique interiors elevate the whole experience - think velvet, leather, animal prints and chandeliers. The menu is a mix of contemporary modern Italian cuisine, with delicious food (the portions are small though so make sure to order enough) and the space turns groovy at night, with house made playlists which really heighten the vibes.

Found along the prettiest canal in Amsterdam, located on the ground floor of our favourite cosy hotel, Lotti's at The Hoxton is a cool neighbourhood restaurant serving brasserie-style dishes. The space has a modern, relaxed feel to it, made up of velvet sofas, retro colours and vintage vibes - it definitely has a very British feel in the midst of Amsterdam if that’s what you’re looking for - a home from home.
