London : sultry soirees

Welcome to our list of sophisticated yet sultry date night spots in Soho which are the perfect setting (according to us) for your next romantic rendezvous in London. Securing the perfect vibe (low-key, unobtrusive, great for a date) is as important as the chat and the ambience in these hot venues just scream sex appeal.. trust us.

Our number one spot, located within the Rosewood London hotel, is designed with a distinct artistic flair: we love the unique art collection of the caricatures, the dim lighting and the lounge-like seating. This is an intimate atmosphere, perfect for relaxed conversations or enjoying a quiet drink next to the cozy fireplace. Catch live jazz in the evenings for soulful melodies and smooth rhythms - we love a live music vibe.

Another go-to for a sultry setting and sophisticated yet sexy interior. Hidden away behind a curtain at the back of the Connaught hotel, discover the Red Room through a velvet-curtained doorway from the hotel's Champagne Room. We love the velvet upholstery and the intricate artwork lining the rose tinted walls, it really gives the room refined sophistication and warmth and it’s a great talking point if art is your thing - plus it’s currently voted one of the top 5 bars in the world, so it’s definitely impressive.

For cool cats only. This intimate, small penthouse-esque setting always seems to draw in a cool creative crowd with its live music and sensational decor. The bands and artists here are always very funky, (usually featuring a live sax - our favourite) and there’s no pictures allowed upstairs to keep the vibes intimate and exclusive. Make sure to get some fresh air or socialise on the roof terrace to get the full Parisian chic experience of this joint.

Inspired by the Italian Dolce Vita era is this elegant yet chic space. Tucked behind this Italian restaurant turned lounge bar, you can hide away in a secluded booth all night long and soak in the seductive ambience through low lighting, sultry red decor and mesmerising live performances. If the vibes are vibing, keep them going all night long and party until late with house music DJ’s playing tracks here until the early hours.

Set in the building’s former Police Station (+10 points for cool location and aesthetic), Side Hustle is a buzzing space draped in New York Art Deco furnishings with subtle British influences. We loved everything,  from its cool decor and lighting to the characteristic collection of street photography sprayed across the walls.  Hide away in a semi-secluded leather booth al night, complete with an extensive collection of agave-based spirits influenced by the flavours of Latin America (if you like that type of thing) - either way it’s a great talking point and an excuse to try more drinks.

Old Police Station Entrance, 28 Bow St, London WC2E 7AW

Still the hottest place in town for cool vibes and cool people - basically London’s elite social gathering spot serving as a kind of clubhouse for adults often accessorised by celebs. Housed in a fire station dating from 1887, the building has huge charm and is rather eccentric and bohemian yet intimate all at once. In the converted engine room turned restaurant, sip on cocktails draped on retro style colourful floral decor whilst surrounded by trailing green plants which form a cornice around the room -think outdoor garden but..inside.

In the basement of One Hundred Shoreditch, this effortlessly cool bar complete with terrazzo tables and cool pine panelling transports you straight to the 70’s. Furnished with half-moon lamps, retro orange seating and hippyish brown glass vases - we would go here for the decor alone. Sip cocktails amidst shelves lined with vintage records and cosy mismatched seating in this intimate and chilled out atmosphere. Oh and the mixologist cocktail menu is also on point - try the ‘Pink Panther’ to be wowed.

Located in an old bank, the marble interiors and architecture of this building are just divine. Grab a drink from the Nickel Bar and find a seat worked around the bandstand (The Nickel Stage) where bands play live music all week long - you can sit up close and personal or there’s lots of dimly lit tucked away spots if that’s more the mood. Head to ‘The Parlour’ downstairs to find an intimate Jazz and Cabaret Bar and Restaurant which promises to provide the perfect, sultry setting for a romantic evening. If you’re looking for ‘dinner and a show’, The Parlour won’t disappoint.

27 Poultry, London EC2R 8AJ

Art dealer chic aesthetics, a modern cosmopolitan crowd and cool staff  - the 22 screams grown-up’s club and we love it. The powder blue and red interiors set the hedonistic tone for this intimate hotel and members club in the corner of Mayfair. Locate the low-lit member’s cocktail bar on the other side of the lobby to sip on champagne or slip to the basement to the Music Room for a late night soiree and find a DJ pumping tracks until the early hours.

This beauty has been around for a while but it remains a timeless London venue and is perfect if you’re after a real show-off spot. Inspired by 1930’s Shanghai, the interiors are accented by gold, deep maroon and luxurious fabrics which screams big-money art-deco heaven. Dine on Chinese banquets of Wagu Beef and King Crab at Salon de Chine upstairs accompanied by live jazz or extend the night after dinner and head downstairs to Club Chinois for cabaret .. so much fun.
