Copenhagen: vintage shopping
One of our favourite things to do in Copenhagen is hit up the shopping scene. The city is a treasure chest of vintage stores and flea markets, from luxury designers to hidden gems. If you love vintage shopping, here are some of our favourite places to get lost in the rails and find one-off pieces.
Weekend flea markets are almost a ritual in Copenhagen. Make sure to go to Veras Market in Nørrebro, open every Sunday throughout the year. It’s essentially a cool Danish girl’s closet sale with people renting a booth to give new life to old clothes and a literal treasure chest of pre-loved goodies that you will not be able to say no to or leave behind. You can also bring your old clothes to swap for new ones. The market stalls are set outside during summer making it the perfect activity for a summer’s day and indoors in the winter with feel-good tunes blaring and food trucks offering much-needed refreshments, Veras is a vibe.
A great little place if you’re looking for vintage designer items with brands such as YSL, Chanel and Gucci. Their selection of eclectic designer vintage and glamorous costume jewellery makes it a favourite in Copenhagen for both women and men. Expect to find some seriously cool pieces in here from the 80s, 90s and naughties. Times Up is the best of vintage shopping.

Jerome Vintage is a vintage concept boutique that has amazing luxury vintage pieces from Yves Saint Laurent to Christian Dior. The space itself is a juxtaposition to its vintage roots and has a chic, modern and minimalistic aesthetic, letting the timeless pieces and silhouettes on the rails speak for themselves. Jerome Vintage feels like a calming, almost therapeutic experience (retail therapy and all that) and quite the contrast to thrift shopping at flea markets. A go-to for vintage and fashion lovers.

Studio Travel is one of the more popular vintage shops in Copenhagen. This vintage boutique has a selection of rare items that the Italian-born owner sourced whilst travelling around Italy and Europe. The store itself is very aesthetically pleasing and a place where fashion, music, art and history meet.

Another popular spot and on the same street as 2nd Rag, I Blame Lulu has two shops full of preloved luxury fashion as well as their own range of clothing under the same name. The pieces are timeless and handpicked to ensure they have been well looked after. Expect chic light knits and simplistic tank tops from the likes of Prada and Versace. There’s also an online store you can shop from.

Also in Nørrebro is the Green Flea Market (Det Grønne Loppemarked) opens at 10am during spring/summer making it the perfect lazy weekend activity. There are so many cool finds from antiques to retro lamps and mirrors, vintage clothes and vegetarian food stalls. Also, a great spot to people-watch and just soak up the atmosphere.

An amazing place to bag high-end designer brands secondhand. You can get lost in Magnolia’s for hours but it’s definitely worth it to find a hidden gem with every brand you can think of from Acne to Celine. This one is a winner.

A secondhand store on Elmegade in Nørrebro with a wide selection of handpicked clothes and accessories. This one comes recommended by the locals and the good news is, once you’re done with searching through the rails, you can then head to Yellow for a pitstop because thrifting is thirsty work.

Carmen Vintage is a place for the thrifting elite. It’s one of the oldest (and best) vintage shops in the city. Expect to find a focus on the 70’s and 80’s with lots of colourful clothes, leather jackets, accessories and one-of-a-kind items from a bunch of different brands.
