STEP INSIDE

If you know us by now, we live for a unique hotel with character, charm and stunning aesthetics and this did not disappoint - we were overwhelmed to say the least. Perched on top of a cliff, this renovated castle with panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea has an exterior that is not merely a backdrop but it is an integral part of the guest experience. Belonging to the Leading Hotels of The World group, Mezzatorre’s fairytale-esque atmosphere of pine wooded parks, thermal springs and secluded coves is an outdoor sanctuary.

ROOM

A fine blend of luxury and comfort, subdued tones and sophisticated furnishings create a serene ambience throughout the rooms. Floor-to-ceiling windows beckon natural light, revealing breathtaking views that become an integral part of the room's allure, overlooking the manicured gardens, Tyrrhenian Sea, or the captivating coastal landscape - each room is thoughtfully oriented to maximise the connection with Ischia's natural wonders. Additionally, the Italian marble bathrooms, rainfall showers, and premium toiletries will give your bathing extreme indulgence.

Don’t miss the the Pelican Post - a curated newspaper by Mezzatorre that outlines the day’s temperature, daily restaurant specials, spa treatment suggestions and “today’s tipple” which can be found at the bar - a lovely touch to make the whole experience feel personal and special. A lovely keepsake, which we framed back at home.

POOLSIDE

The main character of the Mezzatorre experience is the stunning pool area without a doubt - like something captured straight from Slim Aarons’ lens himself. Positioned strategically to offer unobstructed views of the ocean, surrounded by two-tone parasols, striped towels and waiters serving Aperols at your disposal, it could not be more Italian luxury if it tried.

Head down to the decking to unwind on stylish loungers overlooking the horizon; dive into the sea, listen to the rhythmic sound of water or indulge in refreshing juices and light bites served poolside by the attentive staff.

This is also where you can catch the Mezzatorre boat to transport you around the island - the same boat featured in The Talented Mr. Ripley—shot in Ischia, where life will really feel like something out of a film (trust us). This entire exterior is a curated experience that encapsulates the essence of luxury living in Ischia and should not be missed by anyone visiting the island.

SPA AND SPRINGS

Not one to disappoint, Mezzatorre came through with not just one but multiple thermal pools to relax in, mosaicked in jungle-green tiles overlooking the Gulf of Naples in line with the luxury aesthetic throughout the hotel. These thermal waters, known for their therapeutic properties, offer a distinctive and authentic wellness experience that sets Mezzatorre Hotel apart as a destination for holistic rejuvenation.

Start with the thermal pools, followed by thalassotherapy (yes, we didn’t know what that was either) in the seawater pool, then a Turkish bath and sauna. End with a visit to the Kneipp pools, a vascular path consisting of a hot thermal water pool and a cold seawater pool. You can also treat yourself to a thermal mud treatment to detoxify the body if you want to go all out and be the epitome of rejuvenation.

DINING AL FRESCO

The dining experience at Mezzatorre Hotel transcends the ordinary, promising a culinary journey; have a relaxed dinner at La Baia or dine al fresco (there’s nothing better than dinner with a view) at La Torre a celebration of seafood sourced locally - you’ll leave here the epitome of health after the Mediterranean diet (unless you discover their extensive wine menu).

If you’re a wine lover then look no further, they have an extensive wine menu paired with each cuisine. - we have no idea about wine but the waiters took us under their wing.

EVENING

As you probably guessed, the evenings here are just as mesmerising as the daytime. Live piano music on the terrace, in front of a stunning sunset across the waters, cocktails on tap and endless ocean views - if you don’t believe us you can see for yourself here, we captured the moment for you to show you just how magical the setting is - you’re welcome.

INSIDE INTEL

As we mentioned, the hotel is perched on top of a cliff - do not try to walk up to the hotel in the height of summer. Do NOT recommend. There is a hotel shuttle that will come down and collect you. If you’re visiting the hotel, make sure to get a taxi to take you to the gates at the top as this walk is not for the faint-hearted.

The free hotel shuttle takes you down the hill and into town. This ends at 9pm though (annoying) so after that the only option is a taxi.

Taxis into the nearest town (10 minutes) are around €15 so taxis around the island can add up if you aren’t careful.

Mezzatorre is just a short distance from stunning beaches, quaint towns, the port and beautiful local restaurants.
